Aim the light

The joints let the shade move over the work surface, while the exposed arms and springs give the lamp its character. Check that the shade screens the light source from your normal sitting position.

Set up a useful workspace

Metal creates a clear contrast on a wooden desk. Position the lamp to reduce shadows from your working hand. Add general room lighting if the contrast between the bright desk and its surroundings feels too strong.
