Add storage without narrowing the route

Decide what needs to stay near the entrance: coat hooks, shoe storage and a surface for keys. Shallow furniture and wall-mounted hooks can help in a narrow hall. Check that doors still open fully and that the main route remains clear.

Choose a detail that welcomes you

A coloured door or graphic print can give a simple hallway character. Try a classical cabinet with a contemporary lamp, or choose one colour to repeat in a runner and picture. Consider what you see first when entering.

Place mirrors and lighting deliberately

A mirror can reflect available light, but its position determines what it actually shows. Check the view from the entrance and whether a lamp creates glare in the reflection. An additional small light can make the hallway more inviting in the evening.
