The Ball Clock belongs to the clock series Nelson's office developed for Howard Miller from 1949. The team included Irving Harper and produced many designs collaboratively. A colourful story about one late-night session does not establish sole authorship.

Rods connect the hub to the hour markers, leaving the wall visible behind them. Readability depends on the contrast of the hands and markers with the wall, as well as viewing distance.
Keep its background simple
